Project description

The goal of the UKPiño alliance is to establish a regional competence platform for ultrashort pulse laser technology in the 2 µm range, building on existing competencies and experiences with 1 µm ultrafast lasers. The alliance will develop optical components, beam sources as well as guidance systems. In a total of 7 value chains, potential applications of 2 µm ultrafast technology will also be investigated and further developed.
Within the project UKPiño, LAYERTEC will develop high-performance optical components for 2 µm ultrafast lasers and beam guidance systems. Special attention will be paid to the required measurement technology. It is planned to set up measurement stations for the highly accurate determination of reflectance (using cavity ring-down spectroscopy), absorption losses, laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT) and group velocity dispersion (GDD) of the optics.
